Nifty question!
Let me introduce you to K. K is a small-sized woman who had two small-sized friends, and the three swapped clothes between them. One sad, sad season, K's two small-sized friends moved out of state at the same time. K missed the fun and variety of a clothing exchange, so she placed an ad on Craigslist, hoping to find some more like-sized souls in the Portland area.
Found them she did! Calling it the Small Women's Clothing Exchange, K and the other exchange members began spreading the word, hoping to reach small-sized women all over the city. They sent out e-mails, posted fliers and kept on posting at Craigslist.
K met A, a website designer, through a Craigslist posting and A, who likes to goof around in HTML, offered to do a website. So K & A, rhyming geniuses, put their brains together and created PDXPetite (try typing "SmallWomensClothingExchange into a search engine! PDXPetite reflects the identity of Portland's first Small Women's Clothing Exchange: PDX (for Portland) Petite (small sizes). Keen, eh?).
But wait, that's not the end of it! Turns out our small-to-medium-sized sisters were also interested in a clothing swap. So B called K and K e-mailed A, and A realized there might be a PDXMedium, PDXLarge and PDXPlus in the future - so the genius trio put their minds together and created PDXSwap.
And just in case you were wondering why... there's more to this story!
